Part 3: More about Angels

Angels in Christianity

We have seen the existence of angels in Islam but what does Christianity say about angels? The following website: http://www.christiananswers.net/q-acb/acb-t005.html discusses the description of angels as well as their duties and purpose. This webpage was highly informative and what was really inspiring was that it was available in four different languages, Spanish, Hungarian, Dutch and Indonesian.

According to Christianity there is a set belief in angels, these are inherited by the early Christians from the Jewish and Egyptian understandings of angels. In Christianity the belief regarding angels was that they were messengers of God. Christians believed Lucifer to be an angel alongside Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, and Uriel. Christians also believe that humans are a little less than angels as mentioned in the following verse of the Bible:-

"You have made him (man) a little less than the angels..."

                                                                                                               [Psalms 8: 4-5]

The Christians also believe Lucifer was an angel who became disobedient to God and God banished him from the heavens. He was thus known as 'the fallen angel'.

Christians also believe that the angels have free will, they are known as angels when they are obedient to God but when they rebel and become evil they are known as demons. They further believe that angels are created and take a human form of man. Angels are mentioned in the Bible as God's helpers by bringing the message and helping the righteous believing people on Earth to do good.

The Bible further talks about the purpose of angels, their composition, their ranking, the archangels, and the hierarchy of the angels from the Christianity viewpoint. Watch the video in which Garner Ted Armstrong talks in detail about angels from the Christianity perspective.

It is understood that there are beliefs of angels in other religions.  According to Christianity there are angels on earth who have free will and they help people do good why is it then that some people continue to commit evils in the society in which they live? Do these people then not have angels who would help them to do good or do the angels choose who they want to help and who they don't?

    1. I had the same questions Morgana Pendragon, I couldn't understand why angels would help some people and not help others to abstain from sin. I think to be fair only a person who knows about Christianity can shed some light unto this. I cannot completely go by websites as there are many reasons and many viewpoints...
