Post 8: The Finale

The journey into the unknown comes to an end...

Well it has been an interesting journey, one that has been a roller coaster of emotions. I have learnt a great deal of the unknown existence and I can say that after researching all about magic and jinn's it has led me to believe that what my daughter experienced was a real experience. Well what do you say? Are you still unconvinced?

I mean you can just look at the videos in my last post to know how people behave who are affected by possession. I am not saying my daughter was possessed but there certainly was a paranormal activity that took place that night. People who really believe their loved ones are really possessed go to extreme lengths to try and exorcise them.  I leave you the following link which I found to be the most disturbing. Read this and make up your mind.

Part 7: Performing the Exorcism

Expelling the evil...

So far I have discovered many other worldly identities. These are in existence together with human beings. Out of all these existences I must say that when I began researching about Jinns I became quite disturbed about why people would visit Pir's to obtain black magic to physically and emotionally harm others. I had heard of many stories about people  possessed by the jinn but had never come across anyone in reality who was actually possessed; until I saw for myself, my first-hand experience of what possession does to someone.

This incident took place in my local mosque where my family and I were holding a prayer for my deceased relative. The prayers were for three days and I think it was on day 2 when we were all sitting quietly when suddenly a woman began shrieking. She then dropped to the floor and began rolling over violently. She was shouting and grunting uncontrollably and went hysterical. I was too scared to approach her but other women who knew about her condition leapt and restrained her, which I thought initially they were being too ruthless with her but when I saw the strength she possessed it was something extraordinary. She was alone but yet was able to fight a group of women. At the time I wondered how she had the strength and ability to do this but later learned that it was not her strength it was the jinn that was inside her making her behave so violently. After ten minutes of this outburst she became normal, and was quite surprised as to how she ended up on the floor. She could not remember anything. It truly was a terrifying experience to watch.

This got me thinking that she was a real danger to herself and to others, but was this truly a case of possession or was it a case of a mental disorder? This was just one case of unexplained behaviour [possibly a possession], that I had seen in real life but there have been countless reporting's in the media about exorcism killings. Many have died through rituals of exorcisms performed on them, especially women and children. Are those who perform such extreme forms of rituals then considered as murderers?

Is there a way of performing exorcisms which are safe and effective? And how can one actually determine whether someone is really possessed? Well during my research I came across the following link;
http://islamicexorcism.wordpress.com/2009/11/04/simple-guide-for-islamic-exorcism/
which provides in depth information about the signs and symptoms of possession. I have to say when I was reading through this, I found that I had some of the signs and symptoms mentioned in this link for possession but I can definitely say that I am in my sane mind and not possessed. Therefore the reliability of this material can be questioned. I came across two interesting articles which make an interesting read: The first is an account of a Muslim man who realised he was possessed and the other article is about a female who had a discussion with a jinn.

Below are some videos of exorcisms taking place. In these videos you can see that these people are really possessed and it is not a case of mental disorder.

But be warned they are not for the weak hearted!

Part 6: Pir's! Potions! Talisman! Magic!

All in the name of love...

It is now clear of the growing problem in society of jinn possession with the use of black magic. More and more people are visiting pirs and aamils to seek potions and taweez  [talisman] to help them recover from either their psychological problems, or to help them acquire love, money, good jobs, or even to simply seek revenge on their enemies. These people often don't stop and think of the repercussions of their actions. Or of the physical harm they are causing others they perpetuate to love and care for. To even go to these fake pirs and aamils seeking assistance in causing the downfall of their enemies is even beyond comprehensible. I mean if someone has been wronged then seek your justice but do it through the courts or get arbitraries from both sides and let them be judges. Why does one need to stoop to such a degree of getting one possessed? It just doesn't make sense. What does religion have to say about this? Surely these kinds of actions should be forbidden?

Well after considerable research I have found that in fact religions do have an order about the use of black magic, or visiting pirs and aamils to obtaining taweez for the purposes mentioned above. Islam clearly prohibits the use of magic and warns people of the dire consequences if one indulges in this practice. According to the Shariah Law the punishment for the one who practices magic and sorcery is death, as magic is an act of inflicting danger leading to destruction.

"And from them (magicians) people learn that through which they would cause separation between a person and his spouse, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's leave; and they learn that which harms them rather than profits them. And indeed they knew that its practitioner would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves if they but knew"
[Quran,2:101-2]

The use of magic and sorcery is also forbidden in Christianity. It is believed that magic and sorcery is a road leading to destruction. Christians are told to stay away from sorcery, magic and every other occultist practice. The Bible warns people of the punishment for one who indulges in magic and makes no distinction between black and white magic.

"Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritualist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your god will drive out those nations before you."  [Deuteronomy 18:10-12]

Black magic is widely used in Hinduism. They believe that magic was given to them by the Hindu Gods for the sake of defending oneself from evil and doing good actions. According to Hindu scripture there are many verses called the mantra and tantra to either perform black or white magic depending on good or bad.

According to the Jewish scriptures whoever uses black magic should be given the death penalty and this is quoted in the King James Version of the Bible which states that Jehovah required an execution of all those who dealt in black magic and sorcery. Although the use of black magic is forbidden and a punishable crime according to scripture there is an occult that identify themselves as the illuminati and they indulge in freemasonary which is a form of Jewish magic.

Well in this post I have found that the religions do prohibit their followers to keep away from black magic, potions, and sorcery. Some of these people however argue that black magic is wrong and forbidden but they don't see white magic as being wrong or forbidden but these religions do not make distinctions between the two types of magic. Hinduism allows its followers to partake in magic, as it is a means of self-defence from evils and a form to do good. But this begs the question of how much good do people actually do using magic? Throughout my research for this post I have not come across anything which suggested people used magic to benefit others or to benefit their society. Magic has always been used to cause benefit to one self by destroying another.

Part 5: Possession

Can jinn's possess people?

I have researched extensively on the internet as well as talking to many people in my quest to search for answers regarding jinn possession. There are many websites which identify the problem of jinn possession but the reliability of these can be questioned as sometimes the material found on these webpages are usually from personal experience sometimes sufferers of depression but who are misdiagnosed as being possessed.

The following link; http://alternativeentertainment.wordpress.com/2010/03/04/depression-mental-illness-jinn-possession-an-islamic-view/ discusses this subject intensely in the form of four you-tube videos. I believe this material is very reliable as the panel who talks about possession consists of a doctor, a specialist, a psychiatrist and an Islamic scholar with a specialism within this subject. This states that the problem of possession must be on the increase if a panel such as this has set up this website to inform and educate laymen people about this topic. The purpose of this panel is to clarify what symptoms experienced by people describe mental health illness and what describe possession.

My research has led me to two viewpoints. Firstly it is stated by some scholars of Islam that Jinn's have absolutely no power to possess a human. These scholars completely deny claims made by some people that they have had some kind of relationship with the jinn or in some cases are married to them. I know it sounds bizarre but these are very real claims. These scholars claim this to be a result of schizophrenia and other psychological disorders.

However other scholars do agree that inter-marriages of jinn's and humans although rare are not unheard of, but claim they are not permitted. Before any kind of possession can take place people first summon a jinn to their aid. People often visit 'pir's or aamils' who are experienced in the knowledge of the dark arts or black magic. The visits could be for a number of reasons, to remove illnesses, to seek marriage proposals, better jobs, or to seek revenge on other people by asking the pir's to cast a spell on the person. These visits are very harmful to humans as jinn's can actually harm people. Humans cannot see jinn's so they are more vulnerable to be attacked and there are some very real experiences of jinn's harming individuals.

These aamils and pir's first summon the evil jinn's and spirits by carrying out acts to please Satan. An example of this is the 'ustad' or teacher in a village in Sindh, province of Pakistan; who for many months recited the Quran backwards to please the Satan. These ustads and there are many in places like Sindh gain power by praising the shaytaan [evil jinn's] and reciting formulas of heretical nature and either denying Allah completely or associating others with Allah. They also indulge in practices such as preparing charms with the blood of dead people. These practitioners constantly live in a state of filth and impurity. They provide amulets and charms from vulnerable people for a very large sum of money sometimes in the thousands.

The jinn's are called and summoned by these aamils, pir's, and ustads and are sent to the people they are intended for and possessions take place. The person who has been possessed experiences extreme fatique, loss of motivation, pain in the body and such extreme symptoms that cause madness. They become unaware and debilitated by their experience and need help from clerics or scholars who recite verses from the Quran to help them overcome this state and to expel the jinn from within them. When a person is possessed they may speak to others in their own voice and also in the voice of the jinn who has possessed them as evident in the following clip in...

Part 4: The Jinns

What are Jinns?

We have discussed in depth about angels from both religious perspectives so I have decided to dedicate this post to the discussion on jinn's. What are jinn's? How do we as humans know of their existence?

The jinn's are supernatural spirits who inhabit the unseen world far beyond the visible universe of the humans. The jinn's are mentioned in the Quran as being a creation of God, together with angels and humans. As humans are created from clay, angels from light, jinn's are created from a scorching smokeless fire. They too have a free will, similar to that of humans. They have a choice to practice any religion they wish and will be held accountable on the day of judgement of their actions and will enter either paradise or hell depending on this. As jinn's are created from a fire they possess a fiery nature which is the reason for them being non-Muslim and make up the army of iblis.

Jinn's are usually invisible to humans, but humans can be visibly seen to the jinn's. They can travel large distances through extremely short times and are believed to be residing in isolated places such as caves, mountains, trees, seas, and in the air. They dwell in these places in small communities and sometimes can appear in front of a human but will almost always take on another physical appearance. This can sometimes be in the form of a person's relative whether deceased or alive, it could be in the appearance of animals and snakes are understood to be a metamorphosis of jinn's.

All human beings have appointed jinn's who follow them everywhere they go. They are known as al-Qareen. It Is believed that al-Qareen are responsible for whispering into the ears of men to commit sin. It could be said that the bad voice in your head is the voice of al-Qareen. Many people have killed someone through anger and in the spur of the moment but have regretted their actions later. Many couple have divorced one another and many individuals have committed suicide when they have felt quite low and hopeless.

The Prophet when asked revealed that he too was appointed a jinn but his had submitted to him and only encouraged him to do good.

People have sometimes witnessed or experienced strange phenomena which they can only describe as aliens, ghosts, or even ufo's. Although there is no clear evidence of the existence of ghosts, or aliens or even ufo's it is believed that these are all various names describing the same phenomena, of jinn's.

Jinn's cannot communicate to humans unless humans welcome this communication. In cases where interaction with jinn's has occurred, this usually has involved black magic. One case of interaction between humans and jinn's is the famous story of Solomon and the jinn's. Prophet Solomon utilized the jinn's to work at his service by constructing buildings. Of these buildings it is believed that the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem was expanded by the jinn's on the command of Prophet Solomon.

Al-Aqsa Mosque expanded by jinn's {left} and Masjid al-Jinn {Right} [in Makkah, Saudi Arabia] which was constructed by jinn's.

We know quite a bit about the characteristics and abilities of the jinn's but what happens when they begin to communicate with human beings? Are there any reported cases where humans have welcomed the communication of jinn's? Or have sought to control these fiery creations of God for their personal gain? What actually happens when jinn's and men begin to interact? And finally is it possible for the jinn's to possess a person as was shown in the film 'The Exorcism of Emily Rose?'

This topic has surely made me curious to find out more...

Part 3: More about Angels

Angels in Christianity

We have seen the existence of angels in Islam but what does Christianity say about angels? The following website: http://www.christiananswers.net/q-acb/acb-t005.html discusses the description of angels as well as their duties and purpose. This webpage was highly informative and what was really inspiring was that it was available in four different languages, Spanish, Hungarian, Dutch and Indonesian.

According to Christianity there is a set belief in angels, these are inherited by the early Christians from the Jewish and Egyptian understandings of angels. In Christianity the belief regarding angels was that they were messengers of God. Christians believed Lucifer to be an angel alongside Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, and Uriel. Christians also believe that humans are a little less than angels as mentioned in the following verse of the Bible:-

"You have made him (man) a little less than the angels..."

                                                                                                               [Psalms 8: 4-5]

The Christians also believe Lucifer was an angel who became disobedient to God and God banished him from the heavens. He was thus known as 'the fallen angel'.

Christians also believe that the angels have free will, they are known as angels when they are obedient to God but when they rebel and become evil they are known as demons. They further believe that angels are created and take a human form of man. Angels are mentioned in the Bible as God's helpers by bringing the message and helping the righteous believing people on Earth to do good.

The Bible further talks about the purpose of angels, their composition, their ranking, the archangels, and the hierarchy of the angels from the Christianity viewpoint. Watch the video in which Garner Ted Armstrong talks in detail about angels from the Christianity perspective.

It is understood that there are beliefs of angels in other religions.  According to Christianity there are angels on earth who have free will and they help people do good why is it then that some people continue to commit evils in the society in which they live? Do these people then not have angels who would help them to do good or do the angels choose who they want to help and who they don't?

Part 2: The Angels

Angels in Islam

My daughters experience has left me quite baffled to the point where I have decided to explore further. I was advised to search the internet as it is the main search engine which appeals to a wide audience and is a modern yet influential way of providing crucial information from various perspectives. I Googled, 'the unseen world' and came up with a list of the unseen entities. The list includes; angels, jinn's, aliens, ufo's, and demons. I have decided to look at each entity in greater detail and have dedicated an individual post for these. The first unseen entity I will be looking at is the world of angels. What are angels? What does religion say about angels?

The angels are created by Allah; some have been created with two wings others with three and some with even four. There are differences in the appearance of angels but they are all created from light. They are all created for the purpose of worshipping Allah and are assigned particular tasks. Some are responsible for recording the good and bad deeds of human beings; whilst others are responsible for protection of human beings and others are responsible for the bringing forth of rain, and sustenance. The angel Jibra’il was responsible for bringing the revelation from Allah unto the Prophets.

According to the religion of Islam angels are created and exist in heaven and earth. This shows that the angels are a reality but cannot be seen to humans. Thus there is no way of physically proving angels exist except through the revelation from God regarding angels in the Quran. It is clear about the existence of angels in Islam but what about the existence of angels in other religions? Is there another religion out there that talks and believes in angels?
